Welcome to the Edinburgh Swing Dance Society website. ESDS are a non-profit making society dedicated to teaching and developing swing dancing around Scotland.
ESDS organise weekly classes in Lindy Hop, dance events and workshops featuring the best swing dance instructors from the UK, Europe and beyond.

Frankie Manning Celebration Afternoon Sunday May 9th 2010 |

Frankie Manning one of the original Lindy Hoppers was born 96 years ago this May and as many of you are no doubt aware he sadly passed away on April 27th last year. We thought we should not allow these anniversaries to go unnoticed and have put together the following “mini” workshop and dance as celebration of Frankie and all that he contributed to the Lindy Hop.
Frankie choreographed many routines and one of our favourites is a partner sequence called the Lindy Chorus which includes Lindy Hop, Charleston and lots of Frankie MAGIC. To mark the above anniversaries we are inviting you to an afternoon workshop to learn the Lindy Chorus, followed by live music and dancing from the fabulous SWING 2010! Whilst a choreographed routine the Lindy Chorus uses many easily led and followed moves, so it's a great addition to your social dance repertoire, and talking of social dancing what better way to round off the afternoon than to dance to Swing 2010. We know Frankie would approve!
When: Sunday 9 May
Workshop: from 2pm – 4pm
Dancing with Swing 2010: from 4pm – 6pm
Cost: £5 for the afternoon or £3.50 for the social dancing.

Thursday Swing Dance Classes |

Our classes continue with our normal schedule below. We’ve had a few enquiries about our next beginners’ blocks so just to remind you the current term commenced on 15th April and the next starts June 3rd. So make sure you tell all those would be dancers you know!
Beginners' Class - 7.30pm
Stroll and Social Dancing - 8.30pm
Intermediates’ Class – 9.15pm
Cost: £4.50/£4 members/concessions for the whole evening
